Israeli forces near Ganot Junction in Samaria foiled another attempted terror attack on Wednesday, arresting a woman armed with a knife just before she could strike, the Israel Defense Forces announced. According to Israel National News, IDF soldiers guided by the Shin Bet apprehended a terrorist in the Ganot Junction area in Samaria after information was received regarding her intention to carry out a stabbing attack.

The suspect was caught with the weapon already in hand. Israel National News reported that the terrorist was apprehended while armed with a knife and was transferred to the security forces for further handling. No Israeli soldiers or civilians were harmed in the operation, and the suspect is now in the custody of security forces for interrogation.

The Ganot Junction area has proven to be a recurring flashpoint. Israel National News separately reported on a strikingly similar case in which IDF soldiers, guided by the Shin Bet, apprehended a 38-year-old pregnant terrorist after information was received regarding her intention to carry out a stabbing attack. The terrorist was arrested in the Ganot Junction area on the way to Homesh, near Shavei Shomron in Samaria. In that incident too, according to the same report, the terrorist was apprehended while armed with a knife and was transferred to the security forces for further handling. No injuries were reported. The recurring pattern underscores what Israeli officials describe as a persistent, low-tech but potentially lethal threat emanating from the surrounding Palestinian population centers in Samaria — one that requires constant vigilance from troops stationed at chokepoints like Ganot Junction.

This latest foiled attack is only the most recent in a string of intercepted plots across Judea and Samaria in recent days. JNS reported that in a separate operation, IDF soldiers, guided by the Israeli Security Agency (Shin Bet), apprehended another terrorist who was preparing to carry terror attacks against Israelis, the IDF stated, in the Sa-Nur area of northern Samaria. That same report noted the broader security backdrop, explaining that the suspect's relative was eliminated on Aug. 21 when he attempted to stab an IDF soldier during operational activity in the Jenin area, it said. Following his father's death, Hazem expressed his intentions to carry out an attack against Israeli civilians and security forces. The report added a grim family history, noting the suspect is also the brother of Ra'ad Hazem, who carried out a shooting on Dizengoff Street in Tel Aviv in April 2022, murdering three Israeli civilians and wounding over a dozen.

Elsewhere, near Jericho, another attack succeeded in causing injury before a suspect was later tracked down. According to reporting cited by ANI, an Israeli man sustained moderate injuries, including a broken shoulder and internal bleeding, during a Sunday morning stabbing attack along a highway near the West Bank village of al-Auja in the Jordan Valley, according to Times of Israel. The assault took place roughly eight kilometers north of Jericho along a roadway utilised by both Israelis and Palestinians. Surveillance footage captured the assailant ambushing the victim from behind and repeatedly stabbing him as he walked back to his vehicle after visiting a roadside shop. The IDF later announced it had apprehended a suspect in that case as well, with officials crediting the same close cooperation between military units and the ISA that proved decisive at Ganot Junction.

Taken together, these incidents paint a picture that Israeli defense officials have long warned about: a steady drumbeat of lone-wolf and family-linked terror plots across Judea and Samaria that only sustained intelligence work and rapid military response can keep from turning deadly. Israeli security officials continue to credit the tight coordination between the ISA and IDF field units — the same partnership Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reviewed directly, as JNS noted, when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu examined the security challenges in Judea and Samaria at IDF Central Command, with senior defense officials in attendance — as the front line preventing bloodshed in the region.

No further details on the identity or motive of the Wednesday suspect have been released. Security forces say they will continue monitoring the Ganot Junction area and surrounding roads as investigations continue and the suspect undergoes questioning.
