The Israeli Foreign Ministry on Friday welcomed Finland's decision to halt its multi-year funding of UNRWA, the U.N. agency for Palestinian refugees. The announcement came roughly a day after Finnish Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavio said Finland would cut off support for the agency. "Israel welcomes Finland's decision to end its multi-year funding for UNRWA," the ministry said in a statement. "It is good to see more countries recognizing the undeniable truth in light of the conclusive evidence of UNRWA employees' involvement in the Oct. 7 massacre and UNRWA's inseparable links to Hamas." Israel has long accused UNRWA of harboring Hamas operatives and has pushed allies to reconsider funding the agency since the Oct. 7 attacks.
