The Orthodox Union has announced a new leadership structure, effective November 2, the organization is reporting. Rabbi Dr. Josh Joseph will serve as CEO, while Rabbi Shmuel Silber of Baltimore has been appointed executive vice president. Silber, who has led Suburban Orthodox Congregation Toras Chaim for 23 years and founded the Institute for Jewish Continuity, will represent the OU's Torah and public-policy vision, providing hashkafic and halachic guidance to the organization going forward. He succeeds Rabbi Moshe Hauer, zt"l, who died last Shemini Atzeret after serving as executive vice president since January 2020. The OU says the new structure is designed to carry forward Hauer's legacy while strengthening the organization's religious and policy leadership. The appointments mark a significant transition for one of American Orthodox Jewry's most prominent institutional bodies.
