Sikh separatist leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun said Tuesday that the FBI and Royal Canadian Mounted Police have warned him of a new credible threat against his life, even as an Indian national awaits sentencing this year for a 2023 plot to kill him. Pannun, general counsel for Sikhs For Justice, said FBI agents visited him last Thursday and advised him not to travel until the threat is resolved, adding that if he must travel, he should notify the bureau in advance. The warning underscores growing concerns over transnational threats linked to Indian intelligence operations targeting dissidents abroad, a pattern that has drawn scrutiny from U.S. and Canadian officials in recent years amid a broader crackdown on foreign interference and assassination plots on Western soil.
