Tens of Thousands Gather at Kotel for Selichot

Jewish News 24 reports tens of thousands of worshippers gathered at the Western Wall in Jerusalem on Saturday night for Selichot, the traditional penitential prayers recited ahead of the Jewish High Holy Days. Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Lion joined the massive crowd at the Kotel, where he was seen reciting the Shema Yisrael prayer alongside the assembled faithful. The gathering reflects the deep religious significance of the season, as Jews around the world prepare for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur through prayers of repentance. The scene at the Kotel, one of Judaism's holiest sites, underscores the enduring pull of tradition even amid ongoing regional tensions facing Israel. No further details on security arrangements or additional officials in attendance were provided in the initial report.
