Trump suggests renaming Strait of Hormuz after himself

Former President Trump floated renaming the Strait of Hormuz after claiming the U.S. now has control over the vital waterway, posting: 'Now that we have it under U.S.A. control, should we change the name Hormuz Strait to TRUMP STRAIT???' The Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil shipping chokepoint between Iran and the Arabian Peninsula, has long been a flashpoint in U.S.-Iran tensions. Trump did not elaborate on what specific U.S. action he was referring to regarding control of the strait. The post comes amid heightened rhetoric over Middle East security and America's military posture in the region. No official U.S. government statement confirming a change in control over the waterway has been issued.
