The U.S. Postal Service is proposing temporary price increases on several package services from Oct. 4 through Jan. 17, 2027, according to a filing submitted to the Postal Regulatory Commission on Aug. 25. The proposed hikes would cover Priority Mail Express, Priority Mail, USPS Ground Advantage and Parcel Select, USPS said. Increases would vary by package weight and shipping distance, with the steepest hikes hitting heavier packages sent over longer distances, the agency reported. The rate changes still require approval from the Postal Regulatory Commission before taking effect. USPS has used similar temporary holiday-season pricing adjustments in past years to manage peak shipping demand. No final decision has been made, and the Commission's review process will determine whether the proposed rates move forward as filed.
