Wisconsin Prosecutor Clears Elon Musk of Election Bribery Charges

Wisconsin prosecutor Tim Gruenke announced Tuesday that Elon Musk will not face charges over allegations he attempted to bribe voters during the 2025 state Supreme Court race. Gruenke said Musk's initial post could have been read as offering payment for voting, but a follow-up post roughly 12 hours later clarified that eligibility was tied to signing a petition opposing "activist judges." Gruenke concluded no one actually received anything of value for voting or pledging to vote, and that a jury would be unlikely to convict. Musk and allied groups poured at least $20 million into backing Brad Schimel, who ultimately lost to Susan Crawford by 10 points. The decision closes out one of the most scrutinized legal threats Musk faced over his political spending this cycle.
